What is backcountry skiing?
Under ski tour or ski climb we understand climb up of mountains on skis and descent off piste. Even the ascent often presents incomparable natural experiences in the landscape or interesting encounters with animals or their trails.

Backcountry skiing in unspoilt winter countryside, with the breathtaking backdrop of the Dachstein range, away from noise and busy pistes, is probably the most beautiful form of skiing.

Whether you enjoy an ascent with skins on your skis or a exciting descent in powder or spring snow, it's a great experience.

Here too safety is of the utmost importance. Your professionally trained ski guide will tell you lots of important rules for basic safety and technique tips. Amongst other things you will be taught how to use an avalanche transceiver in our Alpine Station right by the Ski School Ramsau.

Equipment:
Avalache transceiver, avalanche spade, avalanche probe, backcountry skiing equipment with good skins, sufficient clothing, plenty to drink and a small snack

Requirements:
Safe parallet ski turns on piste (deep snow experience is not required), good physical condition to last 4-5 hours skiing, enjoyment of outdoor exercise.
